Canada and the Films of Expo 67 is examining several Canadian films and Pavilions from Expo ’67, including multi-screen Labyrinth, A Place to Stand, Polar Life, The Telephone Pavilion’s Canada 67 made in 360-degree Circlevision (produced by Disney), and The Christian Pavilion’s The Eighth Day. The project is a SSHRC-funded collaboration between Concordia and York, with researchers Janine Marchessault, Seth Feldman and Caitlin Fisher. We are currently working on a book anthology and exhibition.
I am collaborating with Matt Soar on the SSHRC-funded projected Proof in Process: An iterative approach to experimental film and video in the age of transmedia. Our collaborators are Florian Thalhofer, Phil Hoffman, and Midi Onodera. Our previous CINER-G-sponsored event Database | Narrative | Archive, an international symposium on digital nonlinear storytelling, was held at Concordia in May 2011; we have recently competed a post-symposium publication created in the interactive online book software, Scalar, which includes my first writing on the intermedia artwork of Korean American artist, Theresa Hak Kyung Cha.
